It’s that time of year again. School is back in session, the leaves are turning red and gold, and there’s a little nip in the air.

That means it must fall. If you want to bring some autumn style and décor to your home, all you need is a little imagination and the right decorations.

One of the best ways to add some fall pizzazz to your home is with pumpkins, gourds, corn husks, and berries. Whether you opt for real or faux, choose colors that compliment your room’s color scheme.

Orange pumpkins, for instance, look great against tan, beige, or yellow walls, while white pumpkins stand out well against darker colors. Twigs, pinecones, and brightly-colored leaves will also make a statement.

Read on for some great ways to decorate the different parts of your home with fall décor.

Kitchen Fall Décor Ideas

Bringing a bit of the outdoors inside adds a nice touch to your kitchen design. Use decorative wooden boxes or bowls to arrange pumpkins, gourds, berries on stems, and corn husks.

These work well on your kitchen island, sideboard, or as a centerpiece for your table. Another way to add visual interest is by decorating the tops of your cupboards with faux tree branches covered in leaves or berries.

Add some white twinkle lights, and even the most high-end kitchen will receive a visual lift.

Fall in Love with Your Living Room

To spice things up in the living room, choose a runner in burlap or an autumn color for your coffee table. Decorate it with a mixture of fall-hued candles and glass vases full of branches with colorful leaves. Real or fake is fine. Remember that faux branches don’t require any cleanup.

For the fireplace, drape the mantle with autumn leaves and add some heavy candlesticks. Instead of placing candles on them, opt for small pumpkins. You can also hang an autumn wreath above the mantel or use a rustic fall or Thanksgiving.

You can go all out in the bathroom with autumn-themed towels, curtains, rug, and shower curtain, or, if you prefer a more subtle approach, opt for a fall flower arrangement on the vanity.

Choose a rustic vase and fill it with dried flowers and branches with leaves. Around its base, you can artfully arrange some small pumpkins and gourds.

Bathroom shelves can be used to drape colorful leaves or to arrange a dish of pinecones and pumpkins. Add a few scented candles, and your bathroom is ready for the season.

Spice Up Your Backyard

Decorating the outdoors for fall doesn’t have to be labor-intensive. Artfully place pots of mums and pumpkins on your deck or around your hot tub and finish off with a decorative wooden ‘fall’ or ‘harvest’ sign.

Filling large lanterns or small galvanized steel planters with small pumpkins, gourds, and pinecones and placing them near your patio door or by your deck or hot tub steps can also add some visual interest.

Small hay bales can be used for stacking pots of mums or pumpkins, and don’t forget to make use of bright leaves to add some extra color.
